How To Create Instagram Highlights Without Story?

If you are here already, I believe you know what Instagram highlights are. Simply said, they are saved stories on Instagram. So, to create a highlight, you need to create a story first. But there may be instances when you only want a highlight. How to achieve that? Keep on reading to find out.
Why you may need this?
IG highlights can help your personal brand and business in many ways. You may want to create a highlight with a particular theme or a product. And to enrich it with content, you need to publish more stories. But every story published gets flashed to your followers’ IG feed. Now what if you don’t want to spam followers with these stories? Well, you create a highlight without the story!
How to do it?
You can be do create IG highlights without story following a little work around.
- The main trick is to create and publish the story in such a way that it is hidden to everyone for the first 24 hours. See how to create story highlights.
- After that the story is added to Archive.
- Now you can add the story to your highlight from IG Archive (follow the steps mentioned in the previous section) with nobody actually seeing it.
In short, you just have to hide that story from everyone for 24 hours before adding it to highlights.

Method 1: Hide from everyone
- Go to Menu by clicking on the hamburger icon (three horizontal bars) on the top right corner on your profile. Now select Settings and privacy.
- Click on Hide story and live.
- Add your list of people by clicking on Hide story and live from.
- Choose all of your followers by clicking on the bubble beside their name. As you can understand, this method is pretty tiresome, as you have to select all of your followers individually. If your follower list is longs, the task becomes even more difficult.
Remember, if you are using this method to hide your story from everyone, you need a private IG account.
How to make your account private
If you currently have a public account, you can switch it a private account for a while to hide your story from everyone. Follow the following steps.
- Go to Menu and then select Settings and privacy like as mentioned in the previous section.
- Now scroll to Account privacy under Who can see your content section.
- Toggle on private account option.
Method 2: Share with selected followers
This method is easier to achieve but has one drawback. You have to share the story with at least one of your followers. But there’s a workaround too. Read all the steps carefully.
- Go to Menu as mentioned in method 1. Now choose Close Friends.
- Now select at least one follower by clicking on the bubble next to the follower’s name. You can choose a close friend or your own personal account if the other one is your business account. This follower will be the only one who will see a story shared only with close friends.
- Now create a story and click on Close Friends.
- Select Close Friends again. If you haven’t added anyone to the Close friends list, you will have to add from here. Now Share. Click Done.
- Now go to the story and click on the green icon to Edit your Close Friends list.
- Remove the friend and click Done. So you have a story that is hidden from everyone.
