You can easily create your own highlights and view highlights of your friends and other public accounts from their profiles. You need to be connected to the internet to gain access. But what about when you are offline and want to enjoy some of the best highlights you have seen recently? Well, you can download them.

Can you download own IG highlights?

Yes, you can download IG highlights. We put a lot of effort into curating those cute little highlights to match our profile theme (vibe?). It will be a shame if we lose them over a mishap. You can use Instagram and third party apps or websites to download them. Here’s how.

1. Using Instagram Stories Archive

Stories archive keeps a tab of all the stories that you ever uploaded.

1. Go to your account and click on the three horizontal bars to go to Menu. Now click on Archive.

   

2. You will see all the stories arranged date-wise. We only have one now. That is why you can see only one here.
   
3. Tap on the story you want to save and click on the three dots in the bottom left corner.
   
4. Tap on Save photo, and your highlight is downloaded.
   

You can skip these steps altogether if you enable the option to save your story to your mobile device any time you create one using Instagram settings. Follow instructions mentioned in the Bonus tip section at the bottom of this article.

2. Using third party app or website

You can download your Instagram highlights stories selectively. There are various apps for that. Story Saver is one of them. Follow these steps to download.

1. Go to the Storysaver.
   
2. Type in the username in the dialogue box. Here we are going to use Instagram's handle to download their highlights. Then click Download.
   
3. Now click on Show Highlights to see all the highlights attached to the profile.
   
4. Click on the highlight you want to download. This will show you all the story from this particular highlight, one after another.
   
5. Click Save as Photo on the one you want to download and there you have it.
   

You can download the highlights of any public account using this website.

Can I Download an entire highlight?

Previously you could, but Instagram no longer has this feature. So you cannot download an entire highlight at one go anymore.

Can you download others’ IG highlights?

Yes, if their account is public, you can download their IG highlights. You will need a third party website such as Storysaver. Follow the steps mentioned in the previous section. Insta Super Save is  another app that you can use for the same purpose.

Bonus tip: How to save Instagram stories to archive

For Instagram to save your stories automatically to archive, you need to make sure that this feature is enabled in the settings. Follow these steps.

1. Go to Menu by clicking on the three horizontal bars on the top right corner on your profile. Now select Settings and Privacy.
   
2. Scroll to Your app and media section and click on Archiving and downloading.
   
3. Now if Save story to archive is turned on, you don’t need to do anything (like shown in the image). If it is not turned on, click on it to enable this feature.
   You can turn on the option Save story to Gallery to save your stories to your phone’s gallery automatically without having to download them later.
